GOLD STAR PARENTS DINNER
Rolling Hills Blue Star Moms honored 24 Gold Star Parents at our Gold Star Parents Dinner on September 26, 2015. Invited guests included Gold Star Parents; parents who have made the ultimate sacrifice with the loss of their child while serving in the Armed Forces of the United States, the Commanders and Commandant of the military organizations represented at the Folsom Veterans Hall, and other community members. We had a wonderful dinner prepared by 22 year Army Veteran Chef Ed Johnson and his staff of veterans. The Colors were posted by Casa Roble High School Jr. Reserve Officer Training Cadets. The guest speaker, Mrs. Betty Hall, spoke about the loss of her child, SFC Brian E. Hall, and how she found helping others with the establishment of the annual Brian E. Hall Walk to Remember held in Elk Grove, has assisted her to move forward. It was a program filled with warmth, love and moving conversation from all in attendance. It was an honor to have been a part of such an important evening.

Gold and Silver Star Family & Friends Barbecue
July 17, 2016
On Sunday, we hosted local Gold and Silver Star Families, Veterans, and Friends at the Folsom Veterans Hall for an all you can eat barbecue! The children enjoyed the bounce house, shave ice and piñata; while the parents received complimentary raffle tickets to win some fun prizes as well as fantastic gift baskets! Assemblywoman Beth Gaines donated a VIP Tour of the State Capitol which was won by Gold Star Mom Laura; which was one of the many baskets given out this day. The best part, however, is the conversation, the friendship building and sharing of experiences with these very special families that have paid the ultimate price with the loss of their child.
We were happy to hold an such a family fun and uplifting event!

Gold and Silver Star Luau
October 14, 2018
On a beautiful sunny Sunday, we hosted Gold and Silver Star Families, Veterans, and Friends at the Folsom Veterans Hall for an amazing Hawaiian Luau! A luau complete with a Hawaiian HuliHuli Chicken and Kalua Pork thanks to Chef Jim Woodward; homemade coleslaw and fruit salad thanks to member Heather Hoffman; Hawaiian sweet rolls and a sheet cake rounded out the menu; and, of course what Luau would not be complete without HULA DANCERS! The Dancers brought up members and guests to teach them the dance; lots of love and laughter filled the day.
Chapter President Wanda Alteri Matus gave a short history of the Blue and Gold Star. In attendance, honored guests, Senator Ted Gaines, Former Assemblywoman Beth Gaines, Supervisor Sue Frost, Sacramento County, and Ken Thurman, Military Order of the Purple Heart shared their gracious words. Also in attendance was Assemblyman Andrew Grant. A very special presentation of a Gold Star Banner by President Wanda to Guyla Caldwell, widow of SSgt. Daniel Caldwell. The honored guest, our Gold Star Families were invited to bring memories of their loved ones for the Honor Remembrance Table.
The day was absolutely wonderful, thank you to all the members who assisted in making this event a great success. A special thanks to all the local business donors for the raffle baskets that were awarded to Gold Star families who all received complimentary raffle tickets; to Kona Shave Ice for complimentary shave ice to the guests; and to Pam Woodward for the fantastic decorations-making the Hall look like it jumped over the ocean to Hawaii!.
